Heartfelt Fortune Cookies

Felted fortune cookies
Next week I'm teaching a free Valentine's themed craft workshop at my local library. We'll be making these darling fortune cookies out of felted sweaters.

Shhh... don't tell, but I'm going to give you the inside scoop on how to make them, just in case you can't be there!

Martha has a similar tutorial, but I'm partial to my method because it provides almost instant gratification with no drying time. Seriously. These things take no more than five minutes to make, but they're oh so cute.

You can download my written tutorial here, or you can just check out this video. (You can view it larger by heading over to YouTube)

Once you're done making your cookies, don't forget to stop by your local Chinese restaurant for a take-out box to put them in. And if you do make your own, I'd love to hear about it, especially if you have a sweet fortune that you wrote yourself!

These are so fun! I saw the Martha ones but the time was too long. I think we might do these for class valentines for my dd's class. She loved them. Thanks for the inspiration!

These are so cute! I am really hoping to be able to make it to the library tomorrow, but I appreciate the tutorial just in case I can't make it.

Thanks for the lovely feedback, ladies. And Lindsay, it would be great to see you again -- I hope you can make it tomorrow. I'm drafting some ideas for future sewing classes and would love your two cents.

I just found your cookies on the Crafty Crow. I have made felt fortune cookies, paper cookies, and fabric cookies, but never felted wool. This is awesome!
(I have a fortune cookie addiction)

KJ -- beware... felted wool is totally addictive! I have two bookcases full of felted wool sweaters, waiting to be transformed into projects.

A great source for wool sweaters is Resweater: http://resweater.artfire.com.
